LNP will reintroduce stamp duty break on family homes
An LNP government will reintroduce stamp duty concessions for Queensland family homes. Shadow Treasurer Tim Nicholls announced in his Budget Reply speech that the LNP will oppose Labor’s outrageous 125 per cent tax hike on Queensland homeowners. “The Bligh Government’s massive transfer duty increase will hit households hard,” said Mr Nicholls.
“Labor’s incessant cost of living increases are never ending, including the Bligh Government’s massively increased stamp duty on the family home and electricity price rises.
“Every time Queenslanders fill up their cars, turn on the tap and flick on the lights they are paying more thanks to Anna Bligh and Labor.
“The Premier is clearly out of touch with Queenslanders’ cost of living struggle and now she has slugged the family home.
“Queenslanders on average sell their home every seven years. Based on the average Brisbane property selling for $515,000, the Bligh government wants to hurt residences already struggling with massive increases in the cost of living with another Labor bill costing more than twice their council rates.
“The Premier is out of touch if she thinks Queensland families can afford an extra $2,315 every year, on top of all the other household bill increases forced on Queensland households by Labor.
“Anna Bligh and Labor have failed Queenslanders by refusing to provide a plan to reduce cost of living pressures. In fact, they have made it worse.
“A CanDo government will save Queenslanders money and deliver more by getting action on the basics and cutting waste.
“Only the LNP can offer real change to the cost of living in Queensland,” Mr Nicholls said.
