Memo to Craig Wallace: No toll for Bruce Highway
Labor's Craig Wallace is trying to lie his way back to government. In Parliament today, I have categorically ruled out Craig Wallace’s suggestion of a state toll on the Bruce Highway. The Minister is being mischievous at best, more likely deliberately misleading given his track-record on handling the truth and highway funding. Craig Wallace’s claim the LNP would put tolls on the Bruce Highway are simply wrong and he knows it. Surely even someone as incompetent as Mr Wallace would understand that a state government cannot toll a federal road.
The LNP is committed to working with the Federal government to progressively upgrade the Bruce Highway, unlike Labor which has wasted 20 years of opportunity to upgrade the highway.
If elected, over the next 10 years we will partner with the Federal government to solve the flooding problems and construct overtaking lanes.
We understand the Bruce Highway is the economic backbone of Queensland and instead of playing politics, we’ll get in and work with the federal government to fix it.
Campbell Newman had challenged Anna Bligh to an urgent debate about the Bruce Highway on May 27, but the silence has been deafening.
