LNP 'Pit to Port' tour to assess Central Qld's needs

LNP Shadow Ministers have embarked on a ‘Pit to Port’ tour from Moranbah to Mackay this week to assess what infrastructure the region needs to grow and prosper. The visit has included tours of the Goonyella and Coppabella Mines, a meeting with Isaac Regional Council and a Moranbah town tour. The LNP team  has also visited the Jilalan rail complex at Sarina, and the Dalrymple and Hay Point coal terminals.

I am committed to consulting with local communities as we put together an infrastructure blueprint for the whole of Queensland.

Central Queensland is one of the wealth generators for the state and the LNP is determined to ensure the revenue raised from resources is reinvested in the region.

Over the past 20 years, the long term Labor Government has been quick to take royalties from this region but slow to spend money on key infrastructure like roads, schools and hospitals.

The LNP team will better manage the state to make sure we get the full benefit from our resources, assets and the money we all pay.

The LNP is developing a strategic blueprint titled ‘Building Queensland’s Future – Together’ to address infrastructure shortfalls and set out future infrastructure priorities.

It is going to be a challenge because Labor has racked up massive debt and lost our AAA credit rating as it has borrowed to pay for its reckless spending.

Labor has borrowed to pay the bills, not to invest in future infrastructure. In contrast, the Campbell Newman LNP team is committed to forward planning, not just living for the moment.

Other LNP Members who  joined me on the Central Queensland ‘Pit to Port’ tour are Shadow Transport Minister Scott Emerson, Shadow Mining Minister Jack Dempsey and Shadow Environment Minister Andrew Powell.
